Using the suggested essential questions to generate engaging class discussion would encourage students to express their views in a positive manner. Having open class discussions about the topic of genocide may be difficult for certain classes but it would be a great tool to approach a sensitive topic such as genocide as students would be able to gain a better understanding of their peers’ feelings, thus creating a stronger sense of relatability and sympathy. This activity can also be used as an opportunity to have the students lead the lesson through discussion and questioning.
